The fourth-generation 2019 Ford Focus was expected to be introduced at the 88th Geneva Motor Show in early March, but according to the latest report, this is not the case.
Speaking to Automotive News Europe, a Ford spokesman said the new hatchback will skip the event in Sweden and be introduced with a special event in April.
The 2019 Ford Focus will debut with the first five-door version, more practical station wagon variant will be announced later this year. Sedan, high-driving 'Active' and sporty ST will be added to the range shortly. Ford plans to introduce the luxury-focused Focus Vignale and 'ST Line' packages this year. We need to wait at least two years for the fourth generation of 'fast' Focus RS.
In previous spy photos, we saw that 2019 Ford Focus would have larger dimensions and a sharper exterior design than its predecessor. The new compact hatchback, which carries traces of the new Fiesta in both the interior and the exterior, will continue to be produced at the brand's Saarlouis facility in Germany.
As expected, under the hood of the 2019 Ford Focus, there will be two diesel options alongside the brand's current 1.0-liter, 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter gasoline engines. Zero-emission electrified variant likely to be added later. Additionally, the four-wheel drive system to be borrowed from the Focus RS, may also be available in the new Focus Active.
The new Focus will not be introduced in Geneva, it does not mean that Ford will not be able to exhibit another model in the event. The facelifted K+ supermini and the all-new Edge will be showcased at 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
