The production of the third-generation 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS officially began at the automobile manufacturer's Sindelfingen plant.

Chairman of the Mercedes Sindelfingen Works Council Ergun Lümali and factory's Site Manager Michael Bauer posed together with the first-produced 2018 CLS.

The mass production of the all new CLS, which was recently premiered in Los Angeles, has officially begun. The model will be produced with the sedan and wagon body style E-Class. The reason is that both models have many common parts. At the same time, the new Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 will be produced at this plant.

Mercedes-Benz says the Sindelfingen plant is one of the most advanced automobile factories in the world, using "the most advanced digital production technologies". The assembly process is optimized with an intelligent system that automatically detects and fits to the required mounting hardware. Facilities in the mounting process, which can automatically detect the required mounting equipment and optimized by an intelligent system that shows to workers. This new system has direct access to orders and other necessary information to speed up the ordering process of the worker.

The models produced in Sindelfingen, which is home to 25.000 employees, are not only the E-Class and CLS, but also the S-Class sedan, coupe and cabrio versions. It was also assembled here in Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes AMG-GT.

Mercedes is once again underlining that they have discovered the "four-door coupe" body style by starting the production of the CLS. The original CLS first appeared in 2003.

Inside, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS comes with optional widescreen cockpit displays, featuring technologies from the larger S-Class. These include systems such as Active Distance Control and Active Steering, Brake, and Speed Limit Assists and more.

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS comes with two petrol and two diesel engines that produce between 286PS and 463PS (AMG 53).
